This blog post explores the common challenge of losing connection with one's "why" in business, even amidst apparent success. Through a relatable anecdote about a client named Emma, it highlights the feeling of exhaustion and disconnection that can arise when a business no longer aligns with personal values and desired lifestyle. The post offers a "reconnection process" with three actionable steps: "Press Pause Before You Pivot," "Reconnect with What's Always Been True," and "Let Vision Lead Strategy," guiding readers to rediscover their purpose and build a business that truly fits them.

The Business Growth Reset Journal/Clarity & Strategy/The CEO Reset: How to Reconnect With Your Why and Fall in Love With Your Business Again

When you sit down to write a blog to share with your community, you’re often met with a choice. Do you take the left path, the one fuelled by frustration, a lesson hard learned or something that felt heavy this week, and write about that?
Or do you take the right path, the celebration, the lightbulb moment, the thing that made you pause and feel proud, and write about that?

The answer is usually both.

Business is rarely an either/or thing. It’s not always a polished highlight reel or a 100% guaranteed success. It’s messy. I like to call it the honest middle. The part where you’re learning, growing, tripping up, celebrating, questioning and slowly building.

So, when I sat down to write this, I didn’t know what the heart of the topic was going to be… because I was finding it tough to find “my why” for the day.

DING! LIGHTBULB MOMENT!

Why don’t I write about reconnecting with my why? Because I really need to reconnect with it today! The parts of my business that feel deeply fulfilling, energising and truly mine.
So here I am, writing about how to reconnect with your why, whilst also reminding myself too! Not just “finding your why” like it’s something lost behind the sofa cushions…but learning how to return to it - again and again - as your business (and you) evolve.

That’s what this blog is going to be about, so let’s get into it.

Emma came to me with a business that looked great on paper. Six-figure revenue. Booked-out client work. A small but mighty team. From the outside, it looked like she’d “made it.” The “it All Looks Right But Feels Off” feeling we all have sometimes.

Inside? She was exhausted. Disconnected. She couldn’t remember the last time she felt truly lit up by what she was doing. The systems she’d built no longer fit the kind of life - or leadership - she wanted.

She didn’t need another strategy.
She needed space.
To breathe.
To think.
To feel again.

Through a consulting session together, she realised it. And from there, we started to rebuild. Not by throwing everything out - but by tuning back in:

To her strengths.
Her rhythms.
Her vision.
And most of all, to her why.

Whether you’re feeling low-level disconnected or fully checked out, this is the work that brings you home to your business again. I call it the reconnection process and in short, its moving from stuck to aligned.

Here’s how we did it with Emma (and how you can start too).

Step 1: Press Pause Before You Pivot

We’re so used to fixing, solving, doing.
But clarity doesn’t come from pushing through. It comes from pausing long enough to hear what’s actually going on.

Ask yourself:

  • What parts of my business feel heavy right now?
  • What parts feel light or energising?
  • If I wasn’t worried about anyone else’s opinion, what would I stop doing?

Step 2: Reconnect with What’s Always Been True

Sometimes your why gets buried under trends, advice, or to-do list chaos. Reconnecting starts by remembering who you were when you started and who you’ve become since.

Try this reflection:

  • What was I craving when I first started this business?
  • What still matters to me, even as I’ve evolved?
  • Where have I compromised too much and what do I want to reclaim?

Step 3: Let Vision Lead Strategy

Strategy without vision is just noise. Emma’s transformation didn’t come from more complexity; it came from stripping things back to what actually served her goals and energy.

Ask yourself this:

  • What does success actually look like for me now?
  • What would feel like “enough”?
  • What needs to shift to honour both my ambition and my wellbeing?

For Emma, it started with clearer offers. Then, a simpler schedule. Eventually, a braver, more boundaries way of leading. And her joy? It came not just from the results, but from the relief of finally building a business that fit her again. Joy isn’t a one-time destination. It’s something you come back to, one aligned decision at a time.
And me? Writing this has been my own little reconnection moment!
A reminder that the joy doesn’t just live in the big milestones or perfect plans, it lives in showing up with honesty, tweaking the things that feel off, and choosing to build a business that fits me.
Not the version of me from 3 years ago. Not the one Instagram says I should be.
The real, evolving me.
Here’s to all of us reconnecting with our why and finding joy in the businesses we have built.

I will write again soon,
